Every year, the SAMAN group has encouraged parents to familiarize themselves with and respect the rules that apply to children's and teenagers' outdoor time. The main focus has been on changes in the fall when the group publishes advertisements to remind parents and children of the change in outdoor time. More forms of the outdoor rules can be found HERE
Here you can find the outdoor rules in English, Polish, Arabic, Spanish, Kurdish and Filipino: https://menntastefna.is/tool/4375/
You can buy the magnet with the outdoor rules and a poster and, for example, municipalities have ordered a magnet and had the relevant municipality's logo placed on the advertisement.
If you want to order a magnet or a shirt, send an email to fjolprent@fjolprent.is
For decades, Iceland has been known for measures to combat alcohol use by children and young people. The collective power of society to reduce alcohol use by young people has attracted attention all over the world, and these actions have become an export product today as the Icelandic prevention model. A major factor in this success in Iceland is limited access to alcohol, including state-run liquor stores, limited opening hours, age limit of 20, etc.
It is therefore remarkable to observe how certain parties in the government place great emphasis on increasing access to alcohol. It should not be forgotten that this actually increases access not only for adults, but also for children and young people, as the online sale of alcohol is an easy way to reach them.
Those of us who support Samanhópðn wholeheartedly agree with the words of the many parties and organizations that have come forward with statements where Alþingi is encouraged to change the law and prevent the online sale of alcohol from being allowed, for the good of everyone, but especially for the benefit of children and young people.
A letter was sent to all municipalities at the end of May, where municipalities are encouraged to remind the message of the SAMAN group for the summer. Also, all primary schools in the country received a letter at the beginning of June asking the school administrators to send a letter to the parents of children graduating from the 10th grade this spring, reminding them that we continue to be responsible for our children, even though they have finished primary school.
The history of the group is that at the turn of the year 1999-2000, a group of people got together and started a motivational campaign under the title "Family together at a turning point". The effort consisted, among other things, in the fact that postcards were distributed to people's homes, advertisements appeared in various media and articles were written in newspapers. The effort was repeated a year later and the group decided to continue working together on prevention in connection with events where there was likely to be an increase in the consumption of drugs among young people.
Strengthening and supporting parents in their parenting role, directing parents' attention to their responsibility for raising their children and encouraging positive family relationships.
To strengthen the power of association and cooperation of those who work on prevention. Those who are in charge of the group are bound to work in some way with and for children and teenagers. Is that work mainly related to prevention, upbringing, education, treatment and counseling.
To work against the risky behavior of children and teenagers by supporting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening their identity.
To draw attention to the dangers of society, such as alcohol, tobacco and other intoxicants, which work against the well-being of children and adolescents at all times.
